Touted to be a jewel amongst Asia's cities, Phnom Penh is vibrant with many aspects and facets of culture and history. This full day join-in tour takes you through its most noteworthy sites and destinations. From your hotel, you’ll head to the National Museum, which still bears characteristic remnants of French influences, and is full of Cambodia’s cultural treasures. Next stop is the Royal Palace, which was built in 1866 by King Norodom, it is a sight to behold with its fine architecture. Did you know that the Silver Pagoda within the Royal Palace is officially know as "Wat Preah Keo Morakot" which stands for "Temple of the Emerald-Crystal Buddha"? The Royal Palace houses many national treasures including gold and jeweled Buddha statues and of significance are the small green crystal Buddha, which are made from Emerald, hence the name Temple of the Emerald-Crystal Buddha. After lunch, you will visit Wat Phnom, the tallest religious structure in the city, where many locals offer garlands of jasmine flowers and fruits as they come to pray for good luck and success. Finally, you’ll head to the Central Market, famous for its beautiful art deco architecture, where you can shop for souvenirs. You’ll experience the rich culture and history of Phnom Penh’s many faces in just one day.
